Ok, Lee searchers, Patty Smoot and I have been trying to figure out the who's who on William LEA. One of our sticking points is which William LEA was the son of John LEA and Ann Taylor. Some sources say William LEA who married Mary Barnett. But it looks like it could be William LEA who m Frances (White?). Oct 4, 1731 Spots Co VA Deed Bk B, 1729-34 p 227, Thos X Creathers, guardian of Wm Lea, heir at law to father John Lea, late of K & Q Co dec'd sells Robert Baylor 100a K & Q adjacent Robert Baylor and Joseph Roberts which land descended to said William Lea from his father. Wit Zachary Taylor Rec 5 Oct 1731. 4 Oct 1731 an Indenture signed by Thomas Creathers transferring 100a Spots Co to William Lea, minor son of John Lea decd of King & Q Co VA. William Lea lived on the 100a for the next 20 yrs. 100a K & Q Co that William Lea recvd from father, later sold 9/1/1752 by Wm Lea and wife Frances to Thomas White of St George Parish Spots Co VA. We know William LEA had a son William and it could be his son selling the land, but we haven't been able to come up with any land transfer from William LEA father to William LEA son. If William LEA was a minor in 1731 does that mean he was under 21 or under 16 at that time? Birthdate could make a difference in sorting out the Williams. One scenario is that John Lea's son was William LEA who m Mary Barnett and that his son William was married to Frances (White?). The other scenario is that William Lea who m Frances (White?) is the son of John Lea and Ann Taylor. Any takers on helping us sort this out? Thx Shelley slee@concentric.net
