My local historical society has a typed binder full of Lee information. The title pages say "Leigh, Lee, Lea, Ley, Lay, Loy, Lees, Leas, Lease Index from the Notebooks of Mrs. Edward B. Lee 2116 Lomina Avenue Long Beach, Calif. 90815 Volume 1 December 1, 1969 Price $2.50" (mostly William Lee's) Volume II January 1, 1970 Price $1.75 (mostly John Lee's) Volume III July 1, 1970 Price $1.75 (mostly John Lee's) Volume IV August 1, 1970 Price $1.75 (mostly William Lee's) Volume V January 1, 1971 Price $2.80 (mostly Mary Lee's) My assumption is that Mrs. Lee compiled (for example) all the William Lee names she could find, perhaps in her own search for family ties? There is a wealth of Lee information, even in just the indexes. Apparently she put an identifying line behind the entries. A sample entry from the indexes reads: "Pg 861, John F Lee b. 1830, and John W D Lee b 1846, 1850 census, Anson Co., N.C. John Lee b. 1786 N.C., wife Celia, moved to Ala." Does anyone know of Mrs. Lee's whereabouts? Or if she is no longer living, who has the notebooks and the rights to them? Thanks for your help.
