    3. Greetings to All, Any help on the LEE family below would be very much appreciated. Three Lee Brothers: newspaper clipping found in the Hamilton County Texas Historical Book page 216 After walking thirty miles on crutches. Returning from the war between the states. The 1000 mile wagon trip from Pike County Alabama to Hamilton Texas must not have been too much of a challenge to Zachary Edward Lee. His two brothers Benjamin Moses Lee and Robert Elijah Lee and their families. The general unrest which covered the southland following the armistice in 1865 had its effect on the Lee brothers. Their father John Lee had died and the family had moved from their home in Covington County Alabama to Pike County Alabama. Zachary and Benjamin Moses had fought for the Confederacy in the 5th Alabama battalion infantry and Zachary had been wounded and taking prisoner at the battle of Chickamauga in Tennessee. He was held in the federal prison at Chicago Illinois and was presumed dead by his family. Robert did not serve since he was only 8 when 20 year old Zachary and 18 year old Benjamin enlisted in 1862. Six months after the close of the war Zachary returned home to Alabama walking the last 30 miles on crutches. Zachary married a childhood sweetheart Beady Robbins and their first two children Nancy and Elizabeth were born in Alabama. Benjamin Moses and his wife Margaret and daughter Mary.
