My husband and I are looking for any information about his ancestor, James Madison Leigh, born (according to census) in Virginia about 1810. He married in Maury Co TN about 1830 to Bernetta Anderson and they lived for a time in Lawrence Co TN (1850 census). They later were in Alabama and Bernetta was alone in Itawamba Co MS in 1860. Their children were: William, Lilburn, George Washington, Lucius, James, Charles and Martha. There was also a Lilburn Leigh in Tennessee in the same counties, also born in Virginia, two or three years older than James M. Leigh, who I think is his brother.
