Hello, I am writing you about my GGrandfather" William Samuel Lee, Esq. whose ranch was on *Rock Creek* - Lee Ranch. don't see him listed on your site as a cattleman/rancher/stockman. One of the first English settlers in the Crowsnest Pass area, a gentleman, lived like one.....etc....arriving in Canada in 1867. His first ranch was on Lee Lake, a lake which Lee stocked with trout. His oldest son was Willaim Henry Lee; William Samuel Lee built the first 4 storey hotel called the Springs. It had sulphur baths - piped in water from the springs he found at the base of turtle Mountain. The area's name was changed from The Springs to Blairmore in 1899.. Later the CPR built a hotel across from Lee's hotel which was also called the Springs. Williiam Samuel Lee died in 1896. He is listed in the 'Rangeman' publication as having 10,000 acres. His brand was 41. He brought horses and cattle in from New Caledonia (BC) as well as from the US. He is a fairly well recognized and remembered pioneer ranchman in the Crowsnest Pass area. Lee Lake, Crowsnest and Lee Creek in Cardston are named after him. some ref from W.M. Wilson's site: http://www.crowsnest-highway.ca/timeline.pl?page=3 1868 Rupert's Land/N-WT.: W.S.
