PEARL D. NEWTON Pearl D. Newton, 74, of Ava, died Friday, Dec. 2, 1977 in the Memorial Hospital in Chester after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Newton was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church in East St. Louis. She was born march 22, 1903, in Kinkaid Township, to Pete and Margaret Crisler Lee. She married Clyde D. Newton, Feb. 2, 1918, in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1970. Survivors include one osn, Wesley of Ava; three sisters, Anna Easton of Ava, irene Stoffel of Willisville, Freida Kessel of Redwood City, Calif. one brother, Charles Benson of Murphysboro; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. One son, Robert, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 1:3- p.m. Monday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava. Burial will be in the Ava Evergreen Cemetery.
