I would like to share information with researchers of the William and Margaret Mckan family. William was born in Shankill, Armagh, Ireland. William and Margaret's family was: John Lee b ca 1742 William Lee b 1745 d 1803 married (1) Susannah Chaffings and (2) Sarah McCullin Sarah Francis b 1849 married Jane Alexander. I am particularly interested in the William and Susannah Chaffing Lee's family. Susannah was born in 1757 in Orange Co., NC. They married ca 1770 and had four children: William, Jr. b 1772 Francis b 1774 Samuel Chaffing b 1775 Isaac b 1776 Susannah died living he husband to raise Samuel and Isaac. The first two children died in their youth. The story goes that William was not able to care for the children so he adopted them out. Samuel to a Puritan couple who lived in Indiana (Illinois?) and the other to a Baptist couple who moved to TN and then to Tuscaloosa Co., AL. One of the descendants of Samuel Lee became President of the Morman Church (Edward Lee). Isaac married Elizabeth Pruitt of Tuscaloosa Co. , AL.
