Author: BetsySalomon Surnames: Lee Bean Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lee/11790/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Alexander Wilson Lee, my twicegreatgrandfather, married Virginia Bean in Diamond Springs, El Dorado County, California, in September 1876. Virginia gave birth to twin daughters, Annie (my greatgrandmother) and Alice, in December 1877, but this was too much for Alexander, and he abandoned the family right after the birth. Virginia divorced him in early 1878, and raised the two children alone, till she remarried in 1885. Her second husband adopted the girls and treated them as his own. Alexander Wilson Lee was born in Pennsylvania (Annie's answer to the 1910 census question about father's birthplace), and I am guessing that he was born around 1850 (Virginia was born in 1852). We have no information about his background before the marriage, or what became of him after the divorce. If you know anything about this man, I would be interested to know. Thanks.
