Considering the name 'Green' Lee ... an unusual name. Early Wilkes Co, GA Records: Col. Greenberry (G. B.) LEE, born in SC, married Elizabeth FEW, dtr of William Few & Mary Wheeler. Tradition says, but has not been proven, that Green Berry LEE was son of John LEE of Little River, Fairfield Co, SC, who originally came to SC from Maryland in 1751. My point is, that many were named after famous people, and Green Berry Lee was well known in GA. It is possible that a person named 'Green', is not necessarily named for a family name. Of course, it is possible that they are! One of my favorite names that I was so certain had to be a family name, was "Asbury." My McGinnis family carried that name down thru generation after generation. After many years of research, I discovered that Francis Asbury was instrumental in the Methodist Epicopal movement in Cabell Co, VA(WV). My McGinnis ancestors were ME Preachers in VA! It is like having a George Washington or Benjamin F as first, second names in your family. Good luck to all in your LEE research. Peg
