Hershel moved first to Newton Co.,Al., then was given property in Dothan,Al. to go there as a brickmason. There is an orbit on the Tarrant Co., TX genweb site that says : ARLINGTON JOURNAL THURSDAY---MARCH 7, 1907 Mr. and Mrs. John Boothe attended the funeral of J.A. Lee, cousin of Mr. Boothe at Ft. Worth last Tuesday afternoon. There is more than one John A. Lee in Tarrant Co., TX. at that time and I'm not sure this one is ours, and have not found a connection with any other lines. Family history is that the father of these children was a Methodist circuit rider. He married Alice Talent? in Macon Ga. 1807. He died when most of the children were minors, and their mother had no resources to raise her family, and other people finished raising them, and she remarried and moved to NC. William Lee's children said their father had told them that he had another sister, and after he was grown he looked for her, but never found her. Family history also said that William's father was a vet of the Revolutionary War. The family bible did not note William Lee's parents names. I have not found any census that I can be sure is the parents of William Lee. Sorry this is so long. I would be interested in any more info that may pertain to this family. I learned that the FHL has also microfilmed the Macon Co. AL files. I called to order the microfilm. It will be at least two weeks before I will have access to it. If there is anything more that I can help you with about this family, please let me know. My g-g-ggrandfather William Lee, b. 1818 in Ga. (lived in Alabama until 1877) migrated to Brownwood, Brown Co., Texas. All of his children moved with him. He married Mary Elizabeth Young in Barbour County Alabama in 1851. By 1870 they had moved to Baker Co. Al. (later renamed Chilton Co.) . I have not found him in any census before 1860. I believe his father was John Anderson LEE, who died in Macon Co., Alabama in 1839. I need to order a microfilm from the LSD Library to see in any more info was in the loose papers of the estate of Green Lee, Administrator Asa Lee dated July 1839, or when Asa Lee was appointed guardian of his younger brothers and sisters.
