My information before my ggg grandfather can from other people's trees on ancestry.com, so I don't know if it is correct. Here's what I have: Ephraim Lee, b. 1755, Catskill, Greene, New York, d. 1820 m. Jerusha Palmer, b. 1755, New London, Connecticut, d. 1820 son: James E Lee, b. May 19, 1798, Greenfield, Saratoga, New York, d. March 30, 1863, Decatur, Van Buren, Michigan m. Elizabeth McVeigh, b. Feb 18, 1898, d. 20 April 1866, Decatur, Van Buren, New York. They were married 19 May, 1816 in Elizabethtown, Leeds County, Ontario, Canada. This is about 35 miles east of Bedford, Ontario. Elizabeth McVeigh's parents were supposed Benjamin McVeigh and Lavina Hewitt. Benjamin's parents were supposedly John McVeigh and Jane McFee. (This reminded me of your Jane Fay.) My ggg grandfather was their second child. William Lee, b. Sep 10, 1818 in Elizabethtown, Ontario, Canada. They might have moved to Jefferson County, New York in the 1820s but I don't think that is correct. I do know they left Canada in the 1830s and headed west. They had a couple of children in Erie County, Ohio in the late 1830s. Then they moved to Van Buren County, Michigan. In doing some research, I found that men who were part of Jessup's Loyalists in the Revolutionary War were given land in Elizabethtown, Leeds, Ontario so I wondered if that's how the family ended up in eastern Ontario, Canada. Have you done the Family Finder DNA test? If you have, we might show up as cousins. Best regards, Lynnette Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
