So rather than discouragement, I am feeling a little more confident this evening. If Arthusa was a relative, certainly he would have come the short distance to visit the family at least once during his years in Texas (In between dealing with Mexico and the Indians of course.) Also, unrelatedly, I found an article on Google that actually mentions Lee's relation to Arthusa's paternal grandmother Rebecca Vermillion, however it would not download to my computer...darn thing! I have chased lots of rabbit trails so far in my ancestry search (including pirate and cowboy tall tales) but because I know my great aunts and my great grandmother, I have a feeling this one is the real deal. But even if it is not...the search is half the fun. I have learned quite a bit of information about the General today, and learning can never be wrong! As a good southern girl I love him whether or not we share blood! lol Have a great week and thanks for the help and advice!
