There is mention of a doctor's bill in the letter. It's quite likely that the doctor involved is another of my relatives who was there 1852-61, Dr. John Lytle Cummins. Also you have: letterhead that says "View of Placerville." Guess where I'm living now? Placerville, California! It's my guess that the writer was using stationary paper from his previous residence, which was Placerville. Incidentally the above-mentioned doctor was in Placerville in 1850 or so. Thanks for sharing. Most interesting. I'll do some more work on the Lee family to see if the writer is part of my family.
