In trying to untangle my own line, we have so many William Lee's if we were to have a family reunion and someone yelled out "William", I think there would be 1000 William's who would come running towards the person calling out the name. James A. Lee, for example, had 15 children. Every one of his children had a William Lee in his family. Each one of those also had a William. Crazy, but when we consider the Naming Tradition, it all makes sense. First son's were named for the father's father, second for the mother's father, third after the father, 4th for the father's oldest brother and so on down the line. The girls were named in the same way, first girl after the mother's mother, second after the father's mother, third after the mother, 4th after the mother's oldest sister and so on. You can see how that begins to provide a whole lot of children named the same name. Good luck! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
