I agree with Hugh and will further add that all subscribers should take be aware that some email programs consider a message to be spam if there is no subject title. A cousin could be missing your message. I have found several messages of this type in the archives for which I had never seen and were of my line for that particular surname. In some cases by the time I found these messages, the person's email address had changed and/or a key family member had passed away. When submitting an inquiry to any mail list, always give as much info as you can. I have seen some which simply were "seeking info on John Doe and his wife Jane." This really tells me nothing. I have also seen some as "looking for descendants of John and Jane Doe." Again there is nothing. Using common sense and providing what you know about the couple will help others help you. When I see these type of messages, I simply ignore them by trashing immediately. The thing this type of message usually tells me is that the researcher is seeking all the info he can from someone who has put in many hours of time and travel so that he can post it, publish it, or share it as his own personal research. This type of person I can do without. Also, subscribers should be aware that posting obits in their entirity is a violation of the copyright law. Obits regardless of age are protected by the copyright law and the current owner of the newspaper can file a suit accordingly. When it comes to posting obits, it is better to submit it as an abstract. Here is an example of my 2nd gr-grandfather George Pruitt whose maternal grandmother was a Lee girl: George Pruitt newspaper - Alton Evening Telegraph, Alton IL newspaper date - Friday, 10 Sep 1909 death date - Thursday, 9 Sep 1909 death place - Jersey Co IL , a mile south of Jerseyville age - 71 years funeral - Saturday, 11 Sep 1909 So please submit your messages on any list as you expect others to do. It's only common sense and common courtesy. Others will appreciate you and you will appreciate others. Debbi Geer __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
