    3. Note: I see no proof that Stern has the lineage listed accurately. What brought you to this conclusion? Many Lee researchers put credibility in Dr. Paul C. Nagel's (a university professor and author of several history books) research and conclusion about the parentage of Richard Lee. Stern says that Richard's parents are Richard Lee and Elizabeth Bendy and Nagel says John Lee and Jane Hancock. It did dawn on me however that Richard Lee and Anna Constable had a son named Hancock which if I were to go by naming paterns I'd lean more towards the John Lee Jane Hancock theory. I also found these this webpage that isn't any more helpful than the books, http://www.btinternet.com/~ALANSPAGE/Alstalk.htm There is a letter there (1745 Copy of a Letter from Lancelot Lee of England to the Hon.Thomas Lee, President of the Colony of Virginia, dated Coton, Shropshire, May 21st, 1745 - from "The King's Lea, p.131-133 by Gladys Howard Thompson) which makes me agree with only one fact from all three of these sources and that is the mention of Reyner de Lega in the books and the mention of a "High Sheriff" which is probably Reyner mentioned in the letter are connectected to the Virginoian Richard Lee somehow. One other thing in the Lancelot letter that makes me wonder is he says, "Your ancestor, Richard, you see, was the sixth son, so that he must have been at least that number of years younger than his brother Thomas. By this computation, in the year 1616 (at which time you say he came to Virginia), he must have been middle aged and father of Col. Richard Lee, both having estates in England and Virginia." All Richard Lee (founder of the Virginia Lees) researchers know that he came to Virginia in 1639/40 so what was the reason for Lancelot saying "By this computation, in the year 1616 (at which time you say he came to Virginia), he must have been middle aged and father of Col. Richard Lee", did he mean 1639/40 instead of 1616 which is about the time the Virginian Richard was born or did his father come to Virginia as well? So with all that I ask, does anyone know who the Virginian Richard Lee's parents are. With all the different information I've see I have no idea how anyone can make a connection to Rayner de Lega. Thanks in advance for any replies and sorry for a long post.Duane Miller Six Lakes MI __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
