I'm looking for a John LEE as well. He was my 5th great-grandfather. An early settler of Southest Georgia Ware County, Georgia, John was born between 1750 and 1760 in North Carolina and married and lived in Wayne County, North Carolina, until sometime just before1800 when he moved with his family to Georgia. His wife was named Elizabeth and they lived in Bulloch County, GA as early as 1798 when he bought land there. After Bulloch, they lived in Tattnall, Appling and Ware Co. Georgia. John was a Revolutionary Soldier (page 60 Knight's Roster of the Revolution ) in North Carolina and drew land as such in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. John and Elizabeth's children were: James b.1790, Lewis b.1797, Jincy b. abt 1799, Elizabeth b.1800, Mary Ann b. abt 1803, Pollie b.1812 I suspect that my John may be the John Lee listed in the Currituck Co NC Single Men Poll Tax. In Currituck Co Courthouse there is a deed dated Dec 5 1786 and names John Lee and wife Elizabeth of Beauford Co NC as having sold 36 2\3 acres of land in Currituck Co, being 1\3 part of land where Thomas ____ lived to Thomas Mercer of Currituck Co NC. The migration pattern of most Southeast Georgia pioneers is for them to have originated in North Carolina and travelled to South Carolina to Georgia. Some stopped for a time period in South Carolina as well. As with most Lee families, there are rumors that my John ties into the Robert E. Lee family of Virginia. I have yet to prove anything (nor disprove anything either). Does anyone have information that may help me? Many of us are desperate to sort through all of the John Lees of the Carolinas to find ours.
