    3. This is not true. Arthur LEE, the son of Richard LEE of Edgecomb County NC remained in NC until 1784 when he sold the property that he had been given from by his father in 1749. His son Simon also sold his property at the same time. Simon shows up in the 1790 SC census. Arthur's brother Timothy inherited land on Contenenty Creek in Dobbs County NC(later Duplin) and was on the land until he went to SC in 1772 with his son Needham, LAzuras and others. Your information comes from "Happy Heritage" which is just about all fiction. Timothy and his sons appear to have settled in MArion County. others who were closely related, were in Williamsburgh District and Sumter. There was a David and he might be a son of Arthur. The name Arthur and Ferney come through that line. I don't know of anyone who has been able to untangle the web. I believe that Arthur only had one son. There are many deed transactions between Arthur , Simon and Arthur,s nephew Charles. It is possible that Timothy could have had a son named Arthur. I am a direct Descendent of Sherwood who apparently was a brother of Needham of Williamsburgh District. Simon appeared on a deed as a witness, but a connection has not been documented. Before coming to SC both Timothy and Arthur lived close to other LEe relatives who seemed to move about the same time. There was a Moses that I have not been able to document, but found in Duplin as chain Carrier for a John LEE, the son of Joshua in 1761. Arthur was the grandson of John LEE of Nancemond, VA.
