Al, Have been researching Lees for years and trying to sort out he families. I do not know about your William and Matilda. I also am not certain whether the William Lee in Bucks Co. Pa. ever was in Va. However, there were many families out of Bucks, especially with Quaker connections, that came to Frederick Co. Va. (Hopewell MM). William and Ann Hoge are in the Wrightstwon MM and go to Hopewell. The following may be of interest: William Lee b. 1730 Ulster, Ireland came to the United States in 1744 and died in NC, was bound to blacksmith Quaker named Hoag (Hoge) for seven years.. William's family was on the next ship for America but sailed for Pennsylvania; when 21, this William became a hatter and employed 20-30 people; in 1818, he was in NC with wife, Susannah Pike and died there. He was an avid Quaker, on 4 February 1758 William was received into membership of the Society of Friends at Cane Creek MM and in 1758 married Susannah Pike b. in Frederick County, Va. They had 10 children including a William b. 1750. Another Lee family that is separate from VA Lees but in Prince William Co. VA:David and Joshua Lee mentioned in 1713 Middlesex Co. NJ records;Joshua married Hannah Dove, dau Alexander and Janet Gordon Dove of Monmouth NJ; Joshua d. 1748 in Middlesex NJ, his son David b. 1740 moved to Prince William in 1761 and died there in 1809. There is a Thomas Lee who is on a 1761 Buckingham Co. land survey; he and son Evander had land in Prince Edward Co, Va. Another Thomas Lee (m. Mary Griffin and Mary Bryan) was in 1783 in Hawkins Co. TN and his children went to Shelby Co. AL. Ch names Nicholas, Thomas, Micajah, Needham, John , william, Edward and James. And, I have TN relatives who were descendants of Charles Lee (Cobbs Hall). Your names are so unusual, think finding the wife's fmaily would be helpful. Good luck.
