John Lee married Dorcus McGowen in Clarke Co, GA. in 1824. Their had their first child a son William M. Lee (1826-1907) was born in 1826. John died while their 6 children were young and Dorcus died in 1848 leaving 6 young children including William. No wills or estates have been found concerning John or Dorcus Lee in Clarke Co., Ga. Other than the will and the fact that there is a John on the 1830 census and Darcus on the 1840 census there are NO indications to this family lived in Clarke Co., Ga. The problem with the 1830 census is there was also another John Lee family in Clarke Co., Ga. at the same time. This John Lee was married to an Elizabeth White and he also died in the 1830s, BUT he left a will and his childred are found on the 1850 census. John and Dorcus' children are not found on the 1850 or 1860 census of Clarke co., GA. and none have ever been located except William who marrys in 1866 to Oliff Pridgeon in Clarke Co., GA. and from then on William and his family can be traced.
