    1. [LEE-L] LEIGH, William 1630-1703 VA
    2. Am researching the family (both ancestors and descendants) of William LEIGH, born abt 1630, died 28 May 1703, in VA when he was thrown from his horse while drunk. He was a big political mover and shaker in Colonial VA. The surname has been variously spelled LEE, LEA, LEGH, etc. in various colonial records. Unfortunately, this guy lived in and around King and Queen County (Williamsburg) VA and the records were destroyed during the Civil War. There are records indicating a marriage to Sarah Emperour on 3 August 1670 in St.John's Parish, Barbados, West Indies. These guys travelled a lot between VA, Barbados, and England. All sorts of records floating around but many of the key items are mssing. I have a fair amount of info on his descendants who straggled down into NC, and will be glad to share it. Leigh Skinner
