Found in "A History of Story County, Iowa," by William G. Allen, printed in 1887 by the Iowa Printing Company of Des Moines; p. 266, in some notes about Union Township, J. Lee is mentioned as an "early settler" and J.C. Lee is noted as a stock and grain shipper and farmer; p. 362, J .C. Lee is mentioned as an "Old Settler of the county - settled prior to January 1, 1858." p. 53: "New Albany Township received its first settLers in 1855. These were John Lee, George Waltz and Al. Dalton."; p. 46: "On Monday, September 1, 1858, the Rev. H.W. Lee, Bishop of this Diocese, preached, and administered the right of confirmation to seven persons on the camp ground west of Iowa Center. It was the first time this service was ever performed in an Iowa Grove. The Bishop spoke of it as a very interesting era in his ministry. On Tuesday he preached in the court house, at Nevada, and confirmed one."; p. 411: Lillie A. Pense, age 1, and Mary E. Pense, age 7, listed as buried in the Sheffield Cemetery. Unfortunately, no dates are given. I hope someone recognizes J. C., John or H. W. LEE.
