I have been following your post with the connections between the LEE and Ingram line. I would like to add the following to the mix. I a not add much more to 1. Richard1 Lee; This may not be a member of our line of LEE/LEA family. In an attempt to carry the line back as far as possible, many possibilities occur between several lines of LEE families. Among LEE researchers a debate rages as to whom belong with whom from William Lea Sr. back to this Richard Lee. I have made this link after looking at an overwhelming amount of data. Not being a professional genealogist, I did not have the skill to sort it all out without crossing different families together; this seems to be a common mistake with researchers. I would invite each reader to do their own research and draw their on conclusions was born circa 1700. He married Judith Steptoe. Children of Richard1 Lee and Judith Steptoe were: + 2 i. Thomas2 Lee, born 3 Dec 1729 in Ditchley, Northumberland, VA; married Mary Griffin; married Mary Bryan. Generation Two 2. Thomas2 Lee (Richard1); the father of William Lee is disputed among LEE family genealogist. I have attempted to sort through the data with no concrete conclusions. I am presenting one of the more accepted parentages for William Lee. Part of the problem is that during this time there were several families with common names. These families followed similar migration patterns. Many people confuse the different lines that result in the family lines getting crossed up and mixed into one family_[1]_ (aoldb://mail/write/template.htm#_ftn1) was born on 3 Dec 1729 in Ditchley, Northumberland, VA._[2]_ (aoldb://mail/write/template.htm#_ftn2) He married Mary Griffin on 9 Apr 1747 in Northumberland Co., VA. He married Mary Bryan on 15 Mar 1761. Children of Thomas2 Lee and Mary Griffin were as follows: 3 i. Nicholas3 Lee. 4 ii. Steven Lee. 5 iii. Samuel Lee; born 20 Feb 1747/48. 6 iv. William3 Lee Sr (Thomas2, Richard1)._[3]_ (aoldb://mail/write/template.htm#_ftn3) William was born in Montgomery Co., Virginia, on 5 Nov 1764. Some say hawkins County TN. I am not sure which is correct. He married Elizabeth Ingram in Virginia. He married Delia or Matilda ??? in Virginia. William died on 31 Mar 1814 in Bledsoe Co., TN, at age 49. This William Lee is thought to have come to Pikeville, Bledsoe County TN in 1806 or 1807. He came from Virginia, possibly Montgomery Co, Virginia. William settled about 2 miles from Pikeville with his family he had at least 6 boys. They bought land and cleared it, working the land for about six years. An old land grant from North Carolina turned up taking all their land and improvements that they had made to the land. This is according to some reports others show that the land was Indian land and the LEE family along with other settlers lost a petition for the land. In disgust most of this family went to Indiana. William Sr died in Bledsoe County TN. His wife Elizabeth went to Indiana with the others. William died while in TN. It seems that William's sons John and Vardemon stayed in Tennessee. William Jr. did not stay in Indiana. William Jr. married a Matlida ?? then later he married Ann Brock in Kentucky. You must keep in mind that the state lines and county lines were very fluid at this time and changed often. Children of William3 Lee Sr and Elizabeth Ingram were as follows: + 22 i. Moses4 Lee, born in Virginia; married Elizabeth ??; married Sarah ?? + 23 ii. Clement Lee, born in Virginia; married Susanna Beck. + 24 iii. Lucy Lee, married Jesse Roberts; married Andrew Hammersly. + 25 iv. Vardeman Lee, married Mary Polly Huddleston. + 26 v. William Lee Jr, born in Montgomery Co., Virginia; married Ann Brock. + 27 vi. Joseph Lee, born in Tennessee; married Winnie Kilgore; married Nancy Ann Bringar. + 28 vii. John Lee, born 28 Nov 1789 in Montgomery Co., Virginia; married Jane Kirkland. + 29 viii. Spencer Lee, born 15 Feb 1798 in Tennessee; married Elizabeth Teagarden. There were no children of William3 Lee Sr and Delia Or Matilda ???. ____________________________________ _[1]_ (aoldb://mail/write/template.htm#_ftnref1) Chloe Ashby Kuns., DAR Chapter of General George A.
