Where did this John Lee go? 1810 Charlotte Co., VA census, aged 26-45 1812, Feb. married in Charlotte Co. to Frances WEBB (widow) (Maybe Frances Terry m. Lazarus Webb 1807.) 1820 Lunenburg Co., VA census 1 male 26-45 4 females under 10 1 female 26-45 3 in agriculture 4 slaves total This family of Lees lived in Charlotte County, right at the Lunenburg County line. John Lee Jr left the area apparently between 1820 & 1830. If he had any sons, they were born after 1820. The last mention I have of him was mention of him in a letter: In Aug 1845 or 1847 his nephew, Edward Lee Jr., wrote from Pickens Co., AL, to his sister in Lunenburg Co., VA. "I believe now that Tennessee is the best place to go get prosperous. . . I was in Tennessee last summer and I liked that country tolerable well. The land is very rich but very high. OUR OLD UNCLE JOHN LEE wanted me to move up there but I rather go with you all to Texas if I can." It sounds as if Uncle John Lee was already in Tenn., but maybe Alabama? Any clue to this John LEE?
