Longmont Ledger (Longmont, Boulder County, Colorado) April 20, 1906 Page 1 Fatal Accident to Richard Lee Richard Lee, commonly called Dick Lee, of Eldora, but who was for many years a resident of Longmont, was so badly injured by a premature explosion of dynamite in his mine called the Deleware, that he died on the train when being taken to Boulder. The explosion occurred at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and he was found by his wife about 7 o'clock, with his left arm mashed to a pulp, his left side a mass of bruises, full of small pieces of rock and powder burns Two ribs over the heart were broken and there was a severe scalp wound. Mr. Lee was about 70 years of age and well known around Longmont. The interment will probably take place at Boulder. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Just realized that when I posted this previously I had an incorrect city listed as the location where the photograph was taken, so I am reposting. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Martha A. LEE which was taken at the C. V. Sarnblad Studio in Minneapolis, MN. I believe the photograph was probably taken in the 1880's with Martha likely in her 20's or 30's at the time it was taken. I am hoping to locate someone from her family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

From that I could see that Henry was born in abt 1840 Ireland. So I found Henry and Jane Lee living in Brooklyn in 1900 census. Henry immigrated from Ireland in 1855 (age abt 17). Jane immigrated in 1870. They married in 1874. A Harry was living with them in 1900. My Lee relatives were in the US, then Canada in the mid 1700s and they were in upper NY state. So...I don't know how to match your Lee with my Lee. Darn! Well - it was worth a try. *smile Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My Lee ancestors lived in NY state, then moved to Ontario, Canada, then headed south and west - through Ohio, ending up in SW Michigan. Ephraim Lee, b. 1755, Catskill, Greene, New York married: Jerusha Palmer (b. CT) James Lee, b. 1798, Greenfield, Saratoga, New York married: Elizabeth McVeigh, Elizabethtown, Leeds County, Canada. (Elizabeth's parents were Benjamin McVeigh and Lavina Hewett) William Lee, b. 1818, Elizabethtown, Leeds County, Canada William married Maria Fox in Ohio about 1840. I have more recent information - of the folks in Michigan, which I have gained from my own research. The info I shared above came from another person on the ancestry.com website. I have done the Family Finder test with Family Tree DNA. Among my cousin matches, I can see an Irish strain. Tell me more about why you know the Lee's were Irish. It might help me coordinate with what I'm seeing in my Family Finder matches. Thanks for posting! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
