I do not know if it will work, so let me know by sending to my personal e-mail, MistletoeLady@gmail.com and put gif File failed in the subject line. I will get that to you in regular e-mail as soon I can. I am sure this file will be helpful to many Lee family members. If you want the file sent to you, please do as I have asked Emily McCurdy to do. I just started chemo today, so please send another request if I have gone more than a week. I don't know what tomorrow will leave me feeling like. But am more than happy to send this on to who ever feels it will help them. Have a great day! Vicki (My mother is a Lee by birth!) Richard Lee. I don't know how many greats but that is besided the point. I'm afraid that I don't have much enformation on Hancock Lee but I will try to help you out. We have a copyrighted family tree dating from the death of Col. Richard Lee, and enndind at my great-grandmother, Virginia Lee. Hancock Lee was the youngest son of Col. Richard Lee and his wife Anna. He was born in Nothumberland County, Virginia in 1653 at Cobb's Hall. He died May 23, 1709, at "Ditchley," the estate left to him by his father's will. Ditchley contained 909 acresand was part of a grant to his father. As you know he was twice married, first to Mary Kendall, daughter of the Honerable Colonel William Kendall of "Newport House," Northumbeland Virginia. His second wife was Sarah Allerton, the daughter of Col. Isaac Allerton of Plymouth, Mass, whose father was the chaplain for the Mayflower, and whose mother was Sarah, daughter of Elder Brewster of Plymouth. She died May 17, 1731 at the ade of 60. Hancock Lee was a very imprtant man in his day, filling many honerable spots in the Colony. He was a Burgess, a justice, and a naval officer, being Collector of Customs in his district. He was also a Patron of his church, where the challice he gave is still in use. Emily McCurdy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am related to a DIFFERENT Andrew Jackson Lee, born the same year as the one you are researching. This Andrew appears to have spent his entire life living (and marrying--many times!) in Clay County, Illinois. This Andrew Jackson Lee was born 13 June 1842 in Clay County, Illinois. His parents were James Lee (b. 1811, Rush Co., Indiana) and Sarah Atkinson (b. 1811, Rush Co., Indiana). Please do keep this in mind when doing research. If you find your Andrew J Lee seeming to drift down to Clay County, it's probably the other Andrew Jackson Lee. I'm happy to continue the conversation! -Craig T. In trying to untangle my own line, we have so many William Lee's if we were to have a family reunion and someone yelled out "William", I think there would be 1000 William's who would come running towards the person calling out the name. James A. Lee, for example, had 15 children. Every one of his children had a William Lee in his family. Each one of those also had a William. Crazy, but when we consider the Naming Tradition, it all makes sense. First son's were named for the father's father, second for the mother's father, third after the father, 4th for the father's oldest brother and so on down the line. The girls were named in the same way, first girl after the mother's mother, second after the father's mother, third after the mother, 4th after the mother's oldest sister and so on. You can see how that begins to provide a whole lot of children named the same name. Good luck! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
