    1. Lea/lee info
    2. In researching my Lee/lea's I have gathered quite alot of misc info regarding the Lee/lea surname. I have things like (from Sistler and assoc. books) marriage indexes and various census indexes all from TN (but not confined to just one area of TN). I am in the process of putting all this info on my puter (because of convenience in searching and sorting) and was wondering if this is something some of the Lee/lea researchers would be interested in my sharing with you. After I get it all in (or a little at a time) I can send it via this list server. If it's not something of interest that's ok, I just thought since I'm going to have it anyway everyone interested might as well benefit from it. I'll be waiting for some input on this..... Cathy

    1. Re: Lewis LEE NC>GA>AL
    2. Hello Angela, I saw your request for information about the Lees. My ancestor is Thomas Lee who appears in the Ga census records of 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860 in Baldwin Co. From the census records, it appears that he was born c1780 in Ga. I know that this Thomas had at least five children (John R., Thomas, Jesse, William, and Monroe). It appears that all the children remained in the Baldwin Co/Wilkinson Co. GA area. Is it possible that my Thomas, the father, was the same as your Thomas, son of Lewis? Do you have information about your Thomas, son of Lewis? I would love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Paul Lee, (pleedallas@aol.com)

    1. LEE NC>GA>KY>IN
    2. Angela and Greg - Maybe, just maybe! My John LEE, no definite dates, probably 1767-1812, m. Mary Ann BRANDON in Greene Co NC (now TN) 1789, with Philip LEE as bondsman, m. by D. Kennedy. They (John and Mary Ann LEE) went to GA ca 1800, where the family stayed for about 15 years. John died there somewhere - no county info available - and Mary Ann and her children (know of only Thomas Greene LEE and Marshall Burr LEE for sure) moved to KY for a few years, then on to Bartholomew Co IN. Thomas Greene LEE went first to Missouri where he bought land...may have been speculating...adjacent or near to the MCQUEEN families. In 1821 he married Jennie MCQUEEN, bought later in Flat Rock Twp, Bartholomew Co, IN. The MCQUEENs settled in that area, and TGLEE lived and died there. Was state legislator several terms, served in IN militia, retiring as a Colonel - was known as "Colonel LEE." One parcel of land that he bought in IN

He married an Elizabeth in Wayne Co, NC and had children George, James, Lewis, Jincy, Elizabeth, Mary Ann and Pollie. They moved from NC to GA around 1800. I am searching for John's father now. Is it possible that your John Lee is the same as my John Lee? Do you have enough information on your John to eliminate my John based on the information I gave above. I find it interesting that Lewis and James were names of my John's children. Also, this son James had a son named Thomas as well. Some of your names do match mine. I was given the name of Walter Washington Lee(b.1725) as the father of my John, but at this point I don't think this information is correct and am pursuing other leads now. Supposedly, my John is part of the Robert E. Lee family of Virginia. Of course, most people on the Lee listserv probably has this oral history in their families. As far as the Lees of Virginia, I have been trying to determine if my John is of the Richard Lee and Hancock Lee line. Richard Lee(b.1616) - Hancock Lee(b.1653) - Richard Lee(b.1681) - Thomas Lee(b.1729) - John Lee(b.1750s) ??????? Is this my John Lee (RS)? All of my Lee family information is on my genealogy page at http://members.aol.com/gregwain/genealogy.htm if it may be of any help. If anyone on the Lee Listserv list can be of any help, I would really appreciate it. Also, if I can help anyone with my North Carolina-To-Georgia-Florida Lee information, please let me know. Thanks, Greg Wainright http://members.aol.com/gregwain/genealogy.htm

    2. Al Lee
    3. Marion B.LEE and Elizabeth HALTERMAN were married in White County TN 1869. Children were John Halterman LEE b 1870, Bartholet LEE b 1873, and Julia LEE b 1876. I'm interested in knowing when Marion B LEE died, and where he is buried, probably in or, close to, the Quebeck community. All I know now is he was not on the 1880 TN census, Elizabeth and the children were living with her parents. Did he die, or did he just leave? Marion was a blacksmith, in business with his father-in-law, John HALTERMAN. If anyone else has an interest in either this LEE family, or the HALTERMAN family, please let me know, I do have a lot of information to share. Regards, Al Lee alee1@flash.net
