I have the Ballard List and Hite List. A question has been raised pertaining to the parentage of Philadelphia, which married William Ballard. (These are my ancestors and also many members of the Ballard List) There is some evidence that she (Philadelphia) was a Lee and other evidence that she was a Ludwell. I am wondering if anyone else on the list is researching any LEE's who also happen to be Cherokee? Particularly in the SE Arkansas area? My great-grandmother was Alice Mae LEE MUSE (b.~1897-1900 d. 1928) and her parents were "Al" (we don't know if it was Albert, Alonzo, etc...he just went by Al), and "Lizzie"/"Lizzy" (could be Elizabeth or Eliza). Dear Subscribers, I have long been stumped by the parentage and background of one Elias Lee, born 1821 in Illinois. He moved to the Republic of Texas in 1841 and married Rebecca South by whom he had a large family. According to census records, Elias' unknown father was born in Kentucky, and his mother in South Carolina. Both Elias and his wife are buried in McClain Co., Oklahoma. Their surviving children were: 1. Louisa 1846-1870? 2. Mary Ann 1849-1910 3. Elvaney Luraine 1851-1942 4. Naomia Jane 1853-1915 5. Nancy D. 1862-1939 6. Daniel Grant 1865-1940 7. I am at a dead end with my grandmother, Alice LEE. She was born about 1855 in WI. No death date. Her first marriage appears to be to Lester COCHRAN as they are in the Kansas 1880 census with two children, Lee, 4 yrs. and Evelyn 10 mo. They are also in the 1885 Chase Co., KS census. She is then in the 1895 Osage Co., KS census married to my grandfather, Thomas Michael ZANE. They were married 1891, Thomas Arlington ZANE was born about 1893 and my mother, Mildred Lee ZANE, was b. 1895. Thomas and Alice were divorced about 1898. Any help will be appreciated. Just read your posting today. In the 1850 census there is Ann LEE, 44, widow of William G LEE, who had the following children with her: William, 20; Mary Ann, 18; Ruth, 16; John B, 13; Jacob A, 11; and Sarah M, 8. The John B, age 13, rules out the family for your James, but the Jacob might be significant. This family could be related to Jacob MARSH, who had John LEE, 78, with them in 1850 census. Green LEE, b. 1797, VA, had a James b. 1836...other children were Eliza, William Rebecca, Mary E., all born IN but they were in Hendricks Co for the 1850 census. I don't find any other likely James LEEs in the 1850 census - I think at one time I looked for all LEEs in IN in 1850, but don't think I have a complete list.

Hi: Need help finding descendants of Levi LEE b. 1748 in Albemarle Parish, Surry County, Virginia, son of Edward and Elizabeth LEE. Levi moved to Gates County, NC and died in 1818. Looking for name of his wife and names of his other children. Levi LEE, Jr. b. 1790 and Steven LEE are only known children. Looking for anyone who is descended from this line. Levi LEE, Jr. b. 1790 moved to Talbot County, GA, married Matilda DENNIS in 1820 and moved to Macon (now Lee) County, AL where he died in 1873.
