Hiram LEE born Canada 1823 died Decatur, Van Buren Co, MI, 31 Jul 1891, married Sophia ROOT born Rochester NY , 20 Jun 1821, a distant aunt of mine. Their children included Henry b OH ca 1842 and Charles C. b MI ca 1850. Sophia died in 1861 and Hiram later married Mary PRATT in 1877. There was a Bennett LEE living nearby in Decatur, b Can ca 1826, who was probably Hiram's brother. I would like to find descendants of this family. Charlie
Dear Ruth, My LEE ancestors lived on the border between Tallapoosa County an Coosa County Alabama, in Equality, Coosa County, Alabama. My ancestor was Isaiah Lee and Demarias (Dorman) Lee. Isaiah was born I think possibly in Richland, County South Carolina in 1806. Demarias was born in Sampson County, North Carolina in 1817. They were married in Pike County Alabama in 1836 (a second marriage for both of them). I believe that Thomas "Jordan" Lee (born about 1775 in Scotland), raised in Richland County, S. C. and died in Tallapoosa County Alabama in 1848 was Isaiah's father. I have no proof, but I'm actively seeking informaiton. Thomas "Jordan" Lee's wife was Liddia Hodge. Guess what, you're in luck! According to some family books written by the family of Genie Gardner Lee, Edwin was one of Thomas "Jordan" Lee's children. Please tell me what you think, or if you know anything. Linda Jones
Henry "Lighthorse Harry" Lee father of R.E.Lee married: 1st Matilda Lee a near cousin. They had: Lucy Grymes b: 1786 d: 1860 married Bernard Moore Carter of the Virginia "Carters." Henry "Blackhorse" b: 1787 d: 1837 in Paris, France. Nathaniel Green b: 1788 died as a youth. Philip Ludwell b: 1789 died as a youth. 2nd Ann Hill Carter b: 1773 d: 1829. They had: Algernon Sidney b: 1795 d: 1796. Charles Carter b: 1798 d: 1871 married Lucy Penn Taylor. No Pippin in this family. Anne Kinloch b: 1800 d: 1864 Sidney Smith b: 1802 d: 1869 Naval Office in CSA. No Pippin Robert Edward b: 1807 d: 1870 No Pippin Catherine Mildred b: 1811 d: 1856 In 10 years of intensive Lee search I don't remember seeing a Pippin name. The Lee line was so large that it could have been in the Brothers of Lighthorse Harry Lee. This is more than you wanted but it shows the complete family line of R.E. Lee!! Bob
I am trying to find a Wm Deason Lee who was in Hartshorne and Holdenville, Okla. before 1904. He marr Sarah "Monie" Adeline Leslie b. 1868 Texas. They had one son Bennie Pinkin Lee b. 1904 Oklahoma. Monie had been married before to Columbus Jackson and had 5 children in Texas. After the death of Wm Lee she marr Calvin Griffith. This Wm Lee was believed to have been a share-cropper who traveled between Texas and Oklahoma. He was gone for long periods of time and returned with lots of money. Another story is that he was the leader of an Indian Gang when he was killed. Where did he die and where is he buried? Monie was full blooded Seminole Indian as was Columbus Jackson I think. Their was suppose to be a story of this Indian Gang in the Argosy magazine if anyone runs across it. Thanks.

Sydney Smith Lee, brother to Robert E., is listed with one son, Fitzhugh Lee, b 1835 d 1905. Fitzhugh was a Major General, C. My Great grandfather was somewhat of an enigma, leaving as little impact on this earth (beyond eight children) as he possibly could. Where exactly he came from is question- able as in one census it is stated that he was born in England to Irish-born parents but 10 years later, he states that he was born in Ireland in County Monaghan. In the meantime, he married three times. 1. PATRICK LEE (B. circa 1854, Co. Monaghan, Ireland or Eng., d. ? came to U.S. with sister MARY who married here and became Mary Lee McCABE. 2.m.AGNES McCARTHY, 1875/76, Bridgeport, CT. B. c.1856, Scotland, d.1889/90 Issues: Mary (b.1876, Brooklyn, NY m.?, d.?); William J.(b.1879, Brooklyn, NY, m. Edna Wayne, Jersey City, NJ, 1899, d.1965, Nutley, NJ;) Agnes (b.1887, m.Rob't. Jones, ?; Frank (Francis?) (b.1888, Brooklyn, NY, d.1900, NY, NY. 3.m.ANN CARRAGHER, June 30, 1890 Goshen, NY b.? Ireland, d.1899. Issues: Helen (Searles), b. Goshen, NY 1891, John, b.1892/3, Goshen, NY, d.? Jamess J., b. 1894, Goshen NY; Robert, b. 1895, Goshen, NY, d.? Ann Carragher died in 1899 while living in Goshen NY and Patrick, out of a sense of duty and /or obligation to the youngest children, married Ann's sister, Mary Carragher on October 1, 1899. There was a funeral in the family around 1905 (possibly that of James') and that was the last time anyone saw Patrick Lee. My Grandfather, William Lee, in fact never knew of P. Lee's marriage to Mary Carragher until he was so informed in 1924! Not a very close knit group of Lees. If there is anyone who can help me by filling in some of the gaps, I would appreciate it. TIA Bob Lee

There is family story in or family that go like this. "Mr Pippin's grandfather and Robert E. Lee, Confederate General, were brothers. Mr Pippin like his grandfather was in sympathy with the union cause." This was told by Susan A. Chaney Pippin wife of George W. Pippin son of Stephen Pippin and Sarah Lee. We are having problems finding Sarah Lee parents. One source says the father is George Lee (George W. Lee) son of Abner Lee (Rev War Soldier). Sarah Lee parents were found in a Kitchens Family Bible. Other sources for the Lee Family show Abner having a son G.W. Lee but that is where it stops. Sarah doesn't show as a daughter and the mother of Sarah Mary Elizabeth Saddler (Sadler) doesn't show as a G.W. Lee's wife. So, since I feel that this may be exhausted, Who was a brother to Robert E. Lee and was a Union sympathizer? Who is his descendents?
