Don't know if your Burrell could be connected to any of them, but thought I'd mention it, just in case you hadn't ever looked for links there. I can't help you with your Dolly puzzle, but Clarke County GA rang a bell for me. My 2ggf, Burrell Lee, married my 2ggm, Lucinda Ramsey in Clarke Co. GA in 1832/3. Their marriage is listed in the marriage book for Clarke Co., and they moved within four or five years to Coosa Co. Alabama where their five daughters were born. I have no clues as to Burrell's lineage. We have Clarke Co. and the name Lee in common. It would be great if we could find more. Good luck to us both! Virginia Wilson

Hi, I am new to your list and hope someone can help me solve my Lee family mystery. My gr, gr, gr grandmother was Dolly Lee born abt 1826 in Paulding Co., GA. As everyone else my family to has a story of us being related to Robert E. Lee but for the life of my I have not been able to find it. Here is the story. Dolly belonged to the Hartwell Lee family(I do not know if this is her father or what) when she was very young her parents died and she went to VA to live with her Uncle Henry Lee and was raised as a sister to Robert E. Lee who was her cousin. When she was old enough they sent her to school and she became a Dr (of what ?) She then returned to GA and met her husband Willie Thompson b. 16 feb. 1818 GA, they were married 15 feb 1843 in Clarke Co.,GA. For the longest time I thought she was a daughter of a Hartwell Lee. I found a Dolly Lee who was the daughter of a Hartwell but the dates do not add up. He died late enough that she would have been out on her own anyway. So.......here I am stuck! If anyone has any information on this family or any suggestion's I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you Vicci Stone knvstone@thegrid.net
I'm looking for anyone who in the LEE families has married a HAGUE. Story goes in my family that the HAGUE's were related to Robert E. LEE (but doesn't everyone?) We have not been able to trace it down yet. As far as we have gotten is a William Lee HAGUE b: March 20, 1804 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC. We have info that his parents were possibly Jame HAGUE born in Holland and Martha (Patsy) Street who married in October 9, 1784 in Caswell Co., North Carolina, but we have not confirmed that. Help! If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it! Harvey Hague Lusk, Jr.

John Lee born April 20,1760 in Flemington, New Jersey married in Morris County, NJ Margaret Lowery. He apparently came to Woodford, Kentucky with his father, but there is considerable confusion in the records there, since there was another John Lee there from the Virginia family of Lees, who was very prominent citizen of Versailles, being an original settler of that town. He is however reported in Gallatin County in the census of 1810 but appears in Jefferson County, IN in 1814. John Lee was a Revolutionary soldier. He obtained land (as the result of military duty) in Switzerland, IN. His widow applied for pension on June 26, 1845 and in various affidavits made by acquaintances to help her in getting this pension, we learn something of his various movements. Robert Poindexter, aged 78 testified that he knew John and Margaret for 50 years, first in Woodford county, and then in Gallatin County, where most of their family was born, that the family later resided on the waters of Indian-Kentuck River in Milton Township, Jefferson County, IN. Thomas Mounts testified that he knew them since they lived at the mouth of the Kentucky River since 1790. The affadavit of Samuel Bellamy, a Methodist clergyman living across the line in Switzerland County, In said that he knew John Lee and his wife for about 14 years before John died and that he lived within 8 miles of them for 26 years until they moved onto the waters of the Indian-Kentuck about 3 miles from where the dependent now lives. John Lee died September 17, 1838. Their children were according to the widows statement; Gershom b. 2-11-1781, Mary b. 12-8-1783, Rebecca b. 2-10-1787, Nathan b. 10-15-1789, John b. 4-15-1792, James b. 5-12-1796, Sarah b. 2-24-1799, Nancy b. 8-4-1801, Nathaniel b. 5-16-1804. John and Margaret sold 40 acres of land in 1835 to daughters Nancy and Rebecca. They sold land on the south side of Indian-Kentuck to Nathaniel Lee. I believe we are another line of Lee's entirely from the Virginia Lees and the Connecticut branches. Does anyone know of the John Lee of the Virginia branch mentioned here? Our John's father was Gershom Lee who helped found Flemington, NJ.
I missed 4 of 4 also. Please post again if possible. Thank you Marian Cox hombug@aol.com
