THE LAST SUNDAY IN ENGLAND. The emigrants kneel in the old parish church. For the last time, it may be forever: They scarcely had known that it would be so hard. The ties of a lifetime to sever. For the last time they look on the ivy-clad walls. For the last time they hear the bells ringing. 'Twas there they were married, and now to that church How fondly their sad hearts are clinging! They listen once more to the good Rector's voice, They will try to remember his teaching: And hope they may never forget what he says, As they look in his face while he's preaching. That voice they have heard by the bed of the sick - That face they have seen by the dying - At the altar, the font, and the newly dug grave The means of salvation supplying. For the last time they stand where their forefathers names They read on the headstones and crosses: There are newly cut names: and others so old, They are covered by lichens and mosses. Then a last look they take at a green little mound, Where one of their children is sleepinng. And gather a daisy that grows at the head - Then turn away silently weeping. The neighbours are waiting to bid them "God speed" To think of them each one professing - At the gate of the churchyard the old Rector stands To give them his fatherly blessing. He placed in their hands the best of all gifts, A Bible and Prayer book, at parting: They could not say much, but he knew what they felt - To their eyes the warm tear-drops were starting. "Keep these in your heart" as he gave them, he said, "And trust to the cross of Christ only: Then the lord will be with you wherever you go, And then you need never feel lonely' M.B.

All- This is a corrected resubmission. During the RW Francis Marion (later General) was a leader of SC militia units that operated as guerrilla forces against the British and were the eyes and ears of General Greene's Army opposing the Red Coats and the affiliated Tories. Among General Marions troops was a John Lee who was a celebrated scout. This John Lee has not been identified with any of the many Lee families in SC at the time. More is needed on where (county or counties) General Marion recruited his men. what SC units were under General Marion's command, and where General Marion's home was located. In the end I hope this info will lead to my John Information or references would be appreciated. Best regards Hugh <HFTHusma@aol.com>

LEE/LEA group listowner TIPS mailto:sundance@neosoft.com [LEE-L] Re: VIRUS WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! reposted by permission- courtesy of Bruce Lee <brucel@microsoft.com> REPLIES PRIVATE ONLY; Do NOT post commentary to list -mail Harold or Bruce privately ONLY: QUOTING BRUCE: Again we see hoax virus postings on the LEE list. I'm not irate about this, although I realize that other subscribers become irate at messages of this sort. At Microsoft, we call these 'hoax virus spam'. In essence, it is TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get a virus from reading e-mail/Internet mail. The ONLY way to get a virus is to run a program 'attached' to a piece of e-mail - a distinct separate user action totally under the user's control. At Microsoft, I'm on the Virus SWAT Team, and we see 6-12 of these 'hoax virus' messages each month. A little education in these matters goes a long way to ease fears. Fear not, Bruce N. I am seeking information on John Sylvester Lee, born about 1849, married to Cecillia Blackwell and living in St. Helena Parish in the early 1870's. John and Cecillia's children were: Bruce Lee, b. about 1869 Ivy Howard Lee, b. May 13, 1874 in Dennis Mills, LA, d. Sept. 11, 1953 and married to Agnes Socenia Newsom (my great-grandfather) Joseph Lee There may have been more children. I am attempting to trace John Sylvester's ancestry. Does anyone have any information regarding this family? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lynn Golshan
