Told me that my grand-grandfather was married to an Indian and had two sons Edward and Matthew. We do not know her name or her tribe. My grand-gandfather was shot in a hunting accident in 1889 somewhere in northwestern WI. The two son's were then raised by another french family, the Levines, rather than their mother, which would be normal. The were raised in an area called French Corners, a few miles north of present day Cadott, WI. Grandfather was told his real name when he became engaged to be married, until then he did not know his real name. Also, when Ralph Nader ran for president a few years back his running mate was a native-american woman named Leduc, she was from the Chippewa's in Minnesota I believe. So, I would say yes there's metis Leduc blood out there, proving it will be a little difficult as the indians didn't and in some cases still don't keep written records. The problem is that the US government gives them money and they don't want to admit too many people to the tribe otherwise their share goes down. They do not accept DNA results.
