    3. Hello Merri, I have in my file a Guillaume Leduc that married a Elisabeth Montpetit-Poitevin in 1802 in Vaudreuil County instead of Beauharnois, they had a daughter named Mathilda that got married in Beauharnois County in 1841. I have listed for this couple 7 more married children. This Couple's daughter Mathilda married a McPherson or McPharson (both spellings were used in the marriage indexing). The names are the same but the dates are different. I have 6 children that married listed for Mathida. Is this the same family as you mentioned? Nina Every hour spent on genealogical research, however unproductive it appears, is worthwhile. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Merri Vinton" <merzi@arvig.net> To: <LEDUC-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2008 5:45 PM Subject: [LEDUC] LEDUC-MONTPETIT-POITENVIN Hello I've recently discovered that my g g grandmother, Mathilda LEDUC b. ca 1810, was the daughter of Guillaume LEDUC & Elizabeth MONTPETIT- POITENVIN who were married in 1811 in Beauharnois, Quebec. I'm also wondering if they had any other children and what area of Simcoe they lived in. I think if I can verify that these are Thomas (JR) parents, I might be able to go backwards from them easier. Author: renaszybunka Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.leduc/525/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My family is living in B.C. but originated in the East of Canada. My ggggrandfather was born Thomas James LeDuc in 1834 in Penetanguishene, Ontario. He went on to become a schoolteacher and moved to B.C. Here, he met and married Rose Schubert and continued to teach school in Cache Creek and Armstrong. He and Rose divorced after awhile but Thomas continued to live in the Armstrong area and quit teaching to take up farming. I don't believe he ever re-married but lived out his life there and stayed close to his children. His father and mother are where I run into trouble. I believe that his dad was born in 1811 in Quebec and moved to Ontario, his name being Thomas LeDuc as well. I cannot find anything on his wife or any other children. The biggest problem is that there are so many Leduc branches and not all being related that it gets confusing. I'm not sure why I am stuck here as I can find the odd thing about Thomas Leduc over the years but I can't be sure if it is t! he correct one (there are alot of Thomas' ) and it sometimes hard to differentiate them. One other thing that may ring a bell is that Thomas James married the daughter (Rose) of Catherine Schubert, a famous overlander. When Rose divorced Thomas, she remarried and became a Swanson. Thanks so much to anyone who can help me with this little hurdle. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He later divorced Rose but lived out his life in Otter Creek and remained close to his children. I believe his father's name was also Thomas LeDuc (as were so many others, unfortunately for those searching ancestors) and I think he was born in Quebec around 1811 and later moved to Simcoe county but he may have been born in Ontario. There are so many LeDuc's and I can't seem to find out where this branch originated beyond the info I have. If I knew more about who Thomas James' mother is and which branch his father came from and if he had any sibs, I could go back from there. I don't know why I am having so much trouble with this one time! era but I seem to be stuck here. Perhaps if there are still any relatives around Ontario that recognize any of this info, they could help me. 3. I have just read your message about Joseph LeDuc and am wondering if you have the names of his parents. My interest is in Joseph LeDuc who was born, 1782, in London, England - his parents were Marie Margueritte GALIEGUE ( b in France 1755 ) and Joseph LeDUC married 1776, Maria Margueritte's father was Jean Baptiste Galiegue . The father , Joseph leDuc died before 1800 and left his wife with 4 young children. They used the DUC at the time, but I believe the name was actually le Duc - there was a nother marriage between the families and the name Le Duc was used I have found no further records for the leDUC family in England and wonder if they emigrated. Since your names are similar to my family, I thought I woukd jot you a note to see if there were any more clues! There is another possibility - a Jean Baptiste LeDuc was born 1780 to PIERRE NICOLAS LE DUC and CATHE. SUSANNE SENECHAULD I would love to hear from anyone with LeDuc connections in England!
