Hi Julie, I'll try this again. It just bounced. Here are the children of Joseph LEDUC and Marie-Amaranthe/Emerende/Emerence/MaryAnne PREVOST/PROVOT/PROVOST: 1. Lucie aka Julia LEDUC, b. 30 Mar 1824 in Beauharnois County, QC. 2. Emerande LEDUC, b. 13 Apr 1826. 3. Angelique/Angele LEDUC, b. between 1828 and 1835. 4. Angelique LEDUC, b. 4 Aug 1830 (bapt. 5th at St. Timothee parish). 5. Josephte LEDUC, b. abt 1833/1834 (I think) at St-Timothee. 6. Lucille LEDUC, b. 30 Mar 1835 at St. Timothee parish. 7. Joseph LEDUC/LADUKE, b. 30 Mar 1835 and bapt. 31st at St-Timothee. Two of these children migrated to Michigan: Lucie/Julia and Joseph. Joseph (b. 1802) later married Marie-Anne Montgrain and they had 1 child: Marie-Vitaline LEDUC, b. 18 May 1845 at St-Timothee. How are you related to Joseph LEDUC and Marie-Amarante Provost? Which of their children are you descended from? I may have more info for you as I have researched some of them. Do you know WHEN and WHERE Joseph died? I've been looking for his death/burial for a long time. Cec

I searched the db's on google newspaper archive, newspaperarchive.com, Ancestry.com historical newspapers, genealogybank.com. This is why you need the exact place and date of death. You may get lucky by posting that data, and someone will look for an obit at the local library in the area where the death took place as well as the area of longstanding residence of the deceased. Most libraries has their areas' newspapers on film, and some volunteers are happy to have a look, if they have some specific data to search and look-up. Her obit, which may have been one of the best chances to find the 2nd married name, does not mention Rosanne, however it doesn't mention a brother, Clifford either who predeceased Nellie Mae sometime between 1916-1920 in Leomister, I suspect. I would search for Clifford Leduc's obit, and the 2 other sister's, "Mrs. Agnes Ladaboucag* (this looks like a mangling of the correct name) and Mrs. Irene Cox both of Worcester;" as they were known in 1954. Nellie May (Leduc) Arbo http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Leduc&GSiman=1&GSpartial=1&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=21&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=44226068&df=all& The obits for the parents might also provide a clue. It appears Agnes Catherine (Key) Leduc died before 1930, probably in Fall River, Bristol, Massachusetts. The father Joseph appears in the 1930 Census in Fall River, he obviously died after that enumeration, I would post on the Bristol, Mass board, and request a look-up for both death record in Fall River, and then his obit. Once you have those dates then obits can be searched for. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am working backwards from Marie Louise LeDuc. Her parents were Eugenie Belanger and Victor LeDuc all from St. Laurent, Quebec. Victor was born about 1863. Victor's parents were Leon LeDuc and Philomene Meunier dit Lagace, I think from St. Laurent also. If anyone can help, I would sure appreciate it!

I did some research on Emma Dion and she may well be Clifford's sister but she died young so her trail ended abruptly and wasn't too much help. I thought that by going backwards, as you suggest, I might be able to locate my grandmother Rosanna LeDuc but so far no luck. She left my grandfather and remarried and no one knows the name of her second husband or where she moved. This Clifford/Mary Trembly line is most likely her grandparents. Any advice on other sources? thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Researching the whole family, not just your direct ancestors help to put the puzzle together. French Canadian's were fond of family naming patterns, this can help distinguish one Leduc family from another or give clues about who might belong to whom. =========================================================== >From looking at this census, we might guess that Joseph and Agnes were married in Massachusetts, their first child on this record was born there. 1900 United States Federal Census [Ancestry.com transcription] Name: Joseph Leduke Home in 1900: Warren, Bristol, Rhode Island Age: 31 Birth Date: Apr 1869 Birthplace: Rhode Island Race: White Gender: Male Relationship to head-of-house: Head Father's Birthplace: Canada Fr Mother's Birthplace: Canada Fr Spouse's Name: Agnes Leduke Marriage year: 1889 Marital Status: Married Years married: 11 Household Members: Name Age Joseph Leduke 31 Agnes Leduke 31 Agnes Leduke 10 Clifford Leduke 7 Rosianna Leduke 6 Nellie E Leduke 2 Susetta J Baker 19 =========================================================== That guess proves true: (familysearch.org)Massachusetts Marriages, 1841-1915 Name: Joseph Laduke Event Date: 18 Aug 1888 Event Place: West Boylston, Massachusetts Gender: Male Age: 19 Estimated Birth Year: 1869 Father: Clifford [note: this given is Anglicized from Cleophas] Mother: Mary (Trembly) Spouse: Agnes Key Spouse's Father: Daniel Spouse's Mother: Kate (Garvey) Record Number: 262 Film Number: 1415225 Digital Folder Number: 4279534 Image Number: 00899 ***Two of Joseph's siblings were married in West Boyleston, MA in 1900, Anne (b abt 1883, Farmerville, MA), and John, (b abt 1876, Natick , RI). The first child, Mary (b abt 1866) is listed as being born in Rhode Island. We also learn that Clifford (Cleophas) has a sister, Emma, born in Canada. More family to investigate. ========================================================= I would continue to search for this family in the 1870 US Census, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and all surrounding States (New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and possibly Connecticut), the usual suspects French Canadian's migrated to. You'll want to find a marriage record for Clifford (Cleophas) Leduc and Mary/Marie Trembly/Trombly. I believe this occurred in the US, I didn't find one in the Canadian records. This will confirm their parentage and allow you to move backwards. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
