    1. [LEDUC-LADUKE] invite to OurAcadianRoots & OurLouisianaRoots
    2. Paul L LeBlanc
    3. On January 7th Ancestry/Rootsweb announced that beginning March 2nd, 2020, they will discontinue their Mail Lists functionality.  Upon receiving this notice Paul L. LeBlanc immediately began searching for another website that could accommodate the mailing list format he uses on Rootsweb.  After much research, he determined Google Groups was the best option.  So he has created two new public Google groups: “Our Acadian Roots” and “Our Louisiana Roots”, which between them will consolidate 77 Acadian and Cajun, 10 uniquely Louisiana, many French surname, and 32 Louisiana Parish Lists.  The new consolidated Genealogy research/discussion groups will focus not only on Acadian and Louisiana ancestors, but also on "All Early French in North America". Come visit the groups' new websites and take a look at the new format: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ouracadianroots or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ourlouisianaroots If you would then like join either or both of them, just click "Join group to post" located at the top left of the page. If any questions or problem joining contact Paul at pleblan@aim.com If you would like to create your own "OUR ______ ROOTS" Google Group for your family or Parish/County, contact me at pleblan@aim.com .  I may have some ideas to help you get started.  In addition, we may be able to add your new group to our new and expanding research family. 1. [LEDUC-LADUKE] FAUNTLEROY - LEDUC Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" four old photographs belonging to the FAUNTLEROY Family of St. Louis, MO. The first is one of Thomas T. FAUNTLEROY which is dated 10 May 1920 in St. Louis, MO. Thomas appears to be in his 50's at the time it was taken. The second and third photographs are identified as "Grandmother FAUNTLEROY" and were also taken in St. Louis, MO likely sometime in the 1920's with the woman likely in her 60's holding a toddler in one of the photographs. I believe that these are photographs of Thomas' wife Bessie FAUNTLEROY. The fourth photograph is of the FAUNTLEROY Twins when they were about 8-9 years old. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Thomas Turner FAUNTLEROY III was b. 22 Feb 1862 in Winchester, VA to parents Judge Thomas Turner FAUNTLEROY II (1823-1906) and Elizabeth "Bettie" Smith HITE (1841-1929). Thomas was one of 10 children born to this couple including Thomas Turner III; Cornelius Hite; Ann Magill; Robert Randolph; Joseph Whittlessey; Griffin Guilford; Elizabeth Dangerfield; Mary Barnes; Charles Magill; and Kathleen or Katherine or Catherine "Kate" Whittlessey, all born between 1862 and 1884. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1882 and practiced law in St. Paul, MN for 14 years before coming to St. Louis, MO where he practiced law for 39 years. After the death of his wife Bessie he remarried Lucie V. LEDUC (1881-1968). Thomas died 30 May 1947 in St. Louis, MO and was buried in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA. His obituary notes that he was survived by three sisters Mrs. Randolph BALL of Asheville, NC; Miss Mary FAUNTLEROY and Mrs. Lewis WOOD both of Washington DC; and two brothers, Randolph R. FAUNTLEROY of Atlanta, GA; and Dr. Joseph FAUNTLEROY of Saluda, NC. Elizabeth "Bessie" Stuart LEE was b. 18 Dec 1868 in Somers, NY to parents Dr. Charles Edward LEE (1842-1918) and Mary CRANE (1840-1921). She lived most of her childhood in St. Paul, MN and married Thomas Turner FAULTLEROY in St. Paul, MN in 1890. The couple moved to St. Louis, MO in 1896 or 1897 and she spent much of her time due to ill health in Altadena, CA. The couple had four daughters including, Mary Lee; Janet Rankin; Elizabeth "Bettie" Lee; and Margaret Guion FAUNTLEROY, all born between 1892 and 1901. Bessie died 1 Apr 1930 in St. Louis, MO and is buried in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA. Her obituary lists her daughters as Mrs. Edward (Janet) CLENDENIN of New York, NY; Miss Bessie FAUNTLEROY and Miss Margaret Guion FAUNTLEROY of St. Louis, MO; and a sister Miss Mary Ranken LEE of St. Louis, MO; and a brother Dr. Henry T. LEE of New York, NY. Bettie (aka Bessie) Lee FAUNTLEROY died Feb 1991 and is buried in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA. Bettie was living in Spartanburg, SC when her father died in 1947. Janet Rankin FAUNTLEROY was b. 3 Sept 1898 in St. Paul, MN and married Edward Hume CLENDENIN (1900-1993) and together the couple had two children including a son, Thomas Fauntleroy CLENDENIN (1927-2013). They were living in Plainfield, NJ when her father died in 1947. Janet died 22 Jul 1959 in Plainfield, NJ and is buried in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA. Margaret Guion FAUNTLEROY was b. 14 Jul 1901 and died 26 Jan 2001 and is also buried with the family in the Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA. Census records provide the following details: 1910 census of Pasadena, CA: Charles E. LEE, age 68, married 44 years, born NY, parents born NY, a Physician Mary C. LEE, wife, age 69, married 44 years, 4 children/3 living, born NY, parents born NY Mary R. LEE, dau, age 43, born NY Bessie L. FAUNTLEROY, dau, age 41, 4 children/3 living, born NY Bessie L. To be fair to everyone on the Boards, its very important to include all the information you have- this helps other researchers of your family and also volunteers who are interested in helping you 'fill in the gaps'....as no one likes to have their time wasted. To keep the exercise moving along, it helps to acknowledge other people's helpfulness. Also, be very specific about what information you are wanting. It also helps if you let us know what records you have access to - eg Ancestry.com, Findmypast, Familysearch etc For example, asking what tribe a family belongs to without any further information - eg mother or fathers side or how far back etc, is not going to get much of a response. There are thousands of MOORE and SARTWELL families in the USA!! Cheers Jocelyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Leduc/Ledoux/Ledue are a massive tribe. There are same named individuals from the same areas in the same time period. I looked at your tree data. How are you making the assertion of the parentage of both Malvina Poulin and Louis Clovis Leduc without their marriage record? The baptismal records for all the children, particular the first born will lead you to the area where the marriage most likely took place. All the data you need to do this is on-line. Use the census to pinpoint the area, then the Quebec Catholic Church records or the Drouin Collection for the BMD. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
