Earliest known person was Tilman (Tilehman, Tilmon) Ledford born apparently NC around 1809-1814 (census records vary age), married to Mildred (Milly) ?? bn 1810-1818 also NC. 1850 Census has him located in Cocke Co., TN. 1840 and 1830 census locate him in Spartanburg District SC. Apparently friends with Harper family (specifically Rebecca Harper) as she lived in Spartanburg SC in 1830 also and appeared in Cocke Co., TN/Greene Co., TN in 1860 & 1870 and Charles Ledford, son of Tillman, married Patsy Harper, daughter of Rebecca. I have NO idea who the father to Tillman Ledford was or anything else about him. If you can connect him to any other Ledfords, please let me know. The Ledfords were abundant in Cocke Co., TN, at one time, but now seem to be about died out. I have other research more recent to my line of Ledfords, but was trying to take the line back further.
