Hello Keith, I am Brenda Duggins Hoilman, in Winston-Salem, NC. I was glad to get an Email from you. My Ledford ancestor was Nancy Ledford, born circa Febru1824 in NC , probably Burke County, NC. Around 1840, she married David Hileman in Burke County, NC. I have not been able to determine who were Nancy's parents. Hello Everbody, I had to do some temp editning with the list everybody should done be on the Ledford-L list. I also see a few new faces to the list, How everybody send in a lsit of who, what, where, when, with the Ledford's they are researching. That way we can get some things started here. Also of note I have been recently in touch with a JoAnn Assal. She has a Newsletter she puts out about 6 to 7 times a year. It's about 10-12 page with each issue. If you what infor on this please let me know. I did send her as note asking if she wanted to be join our little group. I guess a little bit about me would be nice also. I have been researching my grandmother's surname for about 2 years or so. I have had some great leads and some little leads, but every thing note helps believe me. Most of my closest Ledford relatives are from the North Georgia area, and Cherokee County, North Carolina. But I have a lot of Ledford's in my file for other parts of the country also. All the Ledford's in the US can be traced back to three brothers who came from the Landcaster, England area. Currently I have about 1830 Ledford's in my own file. Carolina. Her father was Alford (Alfred) Ledford, b. about 1813 in North Carolina. Her mother was Eleanor (last name unknown) born about 1812 in North Carolina. The 1850 Tippah County census shows Alford and Eleanor Ledford and children: Mary Ann, Lucy, Sarah, Chester, Elizabeth, John, Alford, Marsha, and Wm. I have not been able to find any of this family before or after this census. Mary Ann Ledford married William M. Fryar and lived in Tippah County, Mississippi. They had the following children: John, Mary, Thomas H., Sarah "Sallie" (my grandmother), Martha, and Dorthula "Dollie". Any information will be greatly appreciated. Jan T.
