    3. They are ditto marks. I'm arbitrator and that's the instruction. Don't try with these who are 4 years old and below. David Samuelsen On 7/6/2012 4:35 PM, Mary S. 3. Ditto marks were used in the field reserved for place lived 5 years ago. Ditto marks would not be used for children under 5 as they would not have been alive then. ----- Original Message ----- From: "W David Samuelsen" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2012 1:19 AM Subject: Re: [LDS-WC] Indexing ditto marks > They are ditto marks. 3. Not necessarily. That is what was "supposed" to happen. However, I've run across a lot of pages where children under five have had those lines filled in...either with ditto marks, or places. I'm sure the census taker just got caught up in what he/she was doing and forgot that they were under five. Part of the joy of being human. 3. and the instructions are very clear, blank-blank-blank, regardless of ditto marks for anyone who is 4 or younger. No Ands, Ifs or Buts.
