I served in a sealing session yesterday as an ordinance worker/patron. We didn't have any male sealings of children to do and only a few female sealings that I personally brought. Everything else was marriages. The reason: The temple is not allowed to download any more children sealings than endowments (there is a set ratio given to recorders.) Because our temple is so active with patrons doing family names, this policy cripples us in two ways. First of all, we have been asked NOT to bring large amounts of personal cards to the temple because the temple has to do NFS endowments in order to supply itself for sealing sessions. (Does this seem as wrong to you as me?) We are asked to do temple supplied names. Secondly, our stake assigned sealing sessions do not have a variety of experiences...unless patrons bring their own cards. I hope someone in SL reads this list. I think our smaller temples in areas where people are very active in research work (many converts outside of Utah) have a different need/demand that the big mega production temples in Utah. Originally, the recorder could pull down whatever types of ordinances they had need for, but that was changed. I hope they go back to the original method.
