    3. if you google "hemlock knots" , you will find a lot of sites mention this observation. hemlock knots are very hard wood, like a burl corn dodger is corn cob try this concept in your mind.... use pumpkin as sledgehammer, using corn cob as a wedge in hardened knot wood.
