Just teach the new patron to search for duplicates, uncle Fred... A recent convert, a member of my ward, was super happy when she started her family history and found out that work had been done for her great grandpa. She said "I thought I was the only one, but they are already there waiting for me." In fact, teaching people to search first is much better now, because when there isn't a match (usually there isn't, at least in Brazil and at least one 1-2 generations back), now the system lets you add what you search instead of having you type everything over, this time to add instead of searching. > From: unclefvp@verizon.net > To: lds-ward-consultant@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 15 May 2013 13:12:30 -0400 > Subject: Re: [LDS-WC] Do I Still Need a Desktop Genealogy Program or is Family Tree Enough? > > Hi folks, if a new patron jumps into Family Tree, finds and submits to the > Temple great Grandpa based on a few notes on a scrap of paper, I'd guess we > just created yet another duplicate record...
