I asked them to separate two people a few months ago who I could not separate; one was the niece of the other and named after her, and their fathers had the same first and last names with a different middle name, since one was named after the other. I did not mind them asking for proof since it was a confusing situation to begin with; and since spending about 20 min in familysearch.org provided several censuses and two death certificates that I should have gotten anyway. I think they are training us for FamilySearch Family Tree; when sources will become the determining factor, as it should be, on straightening things out. I have been told by FamilySearch missionaries that if we get into Family Tree now and add sources, and make a case for what we know is true, it will be very difficult for people to mess up the record in the future. There are so many messed up records that they are just asking about your relationship before they make any changes. It should be fairly easy to find a census showing the children of this individual and leading to your grandparents and down to at least your parents. These are not demands, but simple request of proof of relationship.
