    3. I was listening to a Polsh Research video on family search and she mentions the Daitch Mokotoff Soundex to find cities, I don't understand how it works. I see a spelling on a registration card that looks like Sracsiskan, Lithuania (Russian Empire) as a birth place. Can anyone help me figure out where this might be? Thanks Nancy -----Original Message----- From: Carrie Taylor [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, June 22, 2012 12:52 PM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Trotzki-possible Locations? Dear Nancy, Have a look at the Shtetlseeker at http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp Search in Eastern Europe using the Daitch Motokoff soundex search method and you will see that there are several towns similar to Trotzki in both Lithuania, Ukraine and Russia. Now to figure out which one is the right one...Good Luck, Carrie in VA ______________________________ From: Nancy Gibert <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2012 9:19 PM Subject: [LDS-WC] Lithuania/Poland research My great grandparents came from the Russian Empire and their death certificates say they were from Lithuania.? I know that Lithuania was part of the Russian Empire when they lived there. They came to the US in 1890's and lived in Pennsylvania. I have to put together a 30 minute presentation for other family history librarian volunteers on doing research in Lithuania, Poland, Lativa, and Estonia.? Personally I have never done research there yet, I guess this is to help me learn how to do it. If anyone has suggestions on how to start and good websites to reference, I would appreciate hearing from you.? I have done googled history of each country, looked at familysearch.org, Cyndi's list. Also below is a Hamburg record and I cannot even find a town by the name Trotzki. Hamburger Passagierlisten, 1850-1934 Hamburg Passenger Lists, 1850-1934 Name:???
