Mrs. Mary Doe is frowned upon in no uncertain terms. Found out hard way - the possibilities of more than one "Mrs. Mary Doe" multiple real fast and nfs doesn't recognize "Mrs." nFS nearly classified one of my ancestors Elizabeth Gent as Elizabeth, with "Gent" listed as a suffix! Gent stands for Gentleman. nFS DOES accept given names only if listed as spouses. David Samuelsen Nancy Scott wrote: > David, > > If I found Mary as a name for a wife, I would put Mrs. Mary Doe. For clarification, I only used Mrs. Mary Doe as a possible name. Not sure why you state that NFS does not recognize "Mrs." If you have an individual to connect the name to who has sufficient data, she will be unique because of the other information you have entered. User's Guide to NFS on page 154 actually addresses when a first name is not known. It says that if you do not know the mother's first name, enter Mrs. plus her husband's last name or family name. For a child who died before being named, enter Son or Daughter plus the father's last name or family name. Son or Daughter sounds the same as what the Recorder said only not in German. This is not a bug that needs any correction in my opinion.
