Perhaps the parish with records back to 1800 wasn't in existence until then. When was the parish created? What parish did it spring from? These thoughts may not be useful but they are worth exploring. I remember looking for some Church records in the Netherlands and finally discovered that the parish was organized from part of another parish. Then I was able to find my family members again. In Sweden, the same thing has happened. Luckily there is a book "Cradled in Sweden" with a table which lists every parish and when it was started. Does a similar list exist for Italy and Sicily?
