    3. One story that goes over well for me and is one that almost every parent can relate to: I tell the story of the day I left one of my kids behind at church, or the days my one son would hide in the clothing racks at the store so I couldn't find him. He was there one minute and the next he was gone. Every parent knows the immediate panic that sets in while frantically trying to find their child. Then I ask them to multiply that feeling by 100, 200, 300, etc years or even eternity. How would they feel? I then relate a story about how I found out that my 3rd ggrandfather's family had their work done which I found on familysearch. I could have stopped there thinking that all the work was done. However I felt impressed to actually look at the research and as I continued digging in different areas where the family had been I eventually found five more children whose work had not been done. As a parent I couldn't imagine not wanting my children with me and I am sure my ancestors feet the same way. I said take the happiness and relief you have when you find your child that strayed away at the store or got left behind and then multiply THAT by years etc. Then you will know the joy in heaven when you find a missing child for your eternal family. Think of the joy you are bringing others when you find a "lost" family member. I have also used the idea from a member on this list about comparing family history work with the ten virgins. The jist of it is that we wouldn't assign someone else in the family to take care of all the prayers we need, or food storage or fulfilling callings so why do we expect Aunt Marge to do all the family history? We should be doing all of those things for ourselves(filling our oil vessels). You can spice it up more than that I am sure.
