Well, members who do that deserve to be reprimanded. And to think this submitter clicked "yes" next to "I understand and will follow the Church policy" and also said "yes" to a bishop and a stake president when asked if he was honest in all things. More than restricting access to FamilySearch, I'd go for this person's temple recommend as well, at a minimum. (Yes, I am aware that I don't get to decide such things, but that's how I feel.) Maybe the Church could prepare and block a list of 'high profile' names, including Holocaust victims and celebrities. How long until someone does proxy work for Whitney Houston? . . . -------------------------------------------------- From: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 14, 2012 4:31 PM To: <[email protected]> Subject: [LDS-WC] Baptism of Simon Wiesenthal's parents > _Click here: > http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/53506130-78/church-mokotoff-jewish-lds.html.csp_ > (http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/53506130-78/church-mokotoff-jewish-lds.html.csp) > > It appears that because members are not obeying the rules especially > concerning very sensitive submission of names that the church is really > cracking > down. I believe I even saw where someone did the work for Jane Bennett, the fictitious character in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This needs to be stopped. Even the fictitious characters from the "Little House on the Prairie" television series had temple ordinances completed for them. They had been entered into New FamilySearch as though they were actual people - the adopted brother Albert; Adam, the husband of Mary; Mary's baby; Adam's father. All of these are fictitious characters were created for the television series. Meanwhile the time taken to do these ordinances could have been used to complete the ordinances for REAL people. Just a little thought to add, last time I was at a sealing session, a lot of the persons being sealed were listed as simply Mister Smith or Mrs Smith, with children the same Mr or Miss. I asked the birthdates of these persons and was told it was the mid 1800s. In my opinion there is no person who should be submitted for Temple work listed in that manner especially born in the mid 1800s. If they are truely researching their ancestors they can find more information than simply last names for the whole family. Is this proper in your opinion? Or am I wrong? That is just lazy genealogy . . . we truly dislike seeing names like that in our Temple office.
