I helped a ward member register on nFS, and the number on his barcoded recommend was wrong. Fortunately, his wife had saved the membership record print out from 2007 (our ward didn't reprint them in 2008), so we got him registered. He attends the Temple every week, and the incorrect number hadn't been caught by the stake clerk, because his recommend works at the Temple. On another note, it had been discussed here how there isn't much extraction going on any more. Today in our Temple almost all the downloaded names that came from Salt Lake were extracted records - the sheets say "Extracted" or "Patron" so maybe the patrons aren't providing enough names. With the implementation of nFS, I find that getting members (eg other SS & primary teachers) temporarily released from their callings to learn a) how to do research b) how to use research software eg PAF c) how to use nFS for temple submission is getting quite difficult. How are you guys splitting/setting up your SS classes? We are a small ward and trying to get just the married couples to attend, never mind their more techie minded teenagers, is nigh impossible. Secondly, once someone has been through some education, how do you keep them hooked? Terry in South Africa
We are offering classes on Tuesday night in our home because we have wireless internet and others can bring their laptop computers and hook up to it. The classes are very popular. We have a revolving schedule of classes with research, nFS, and PAF as class options.
