    2. Her parents may have called her one thing, but likely she chose her middle name. She probably doesn't have a real birth certificate that early. In these cases, which are really common, I usually put "Martha or Dorine". Or "Dorine or Martha", whichever first that you think she used most in her adult life where more records like a death certifiicate, social security records, etc would be found. Some of my kin from the other side of the family got really creative with which name they were using when the census taker came, but I knew the birth name for sure. For now I've got Martha/Dorine in the way she is listed in the 1925 Kansas census, with a message in the notes that she also went by Dorine M. Anybody have a better suggestion?
