I've seen that many times in the census's, my own great grandmother was called Minnie and that is on her gravestone, but her real name was Brinkamina, I never knew until I started doing genealogy and I knew her personally until I was 25 years old. My grandfather was Hamer Adams all his life, but his real name was John Hamer, never knew that until later in life. They seemed to take whatever name they liked, very confusing to the next generations.
